Supreme Court Rules that Corporations are Persons
By RHSproductions on Feb 23, 2010 in Politics
Regardless of the Supreme Court’s misguided ruling, corporations are not people. The Constitution and Bill of Rights does not apply to them.
Corporations don’t have opinions. Individuals have opinions. Corporations don’t get hungry, they cannot be beaten with night-sticks, they have no beliefs and can not pray or attend church.
Soldiers die for your right to create a corporation, but your corporation can’t join the Marines or die in battle. Corporations cannot be brought home in body bags. The rules of nature, or God, if you will dictate this- it is the way things are. No law on Earth can ever change this.
The Bill of Rights grants individuals the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, while corporations are the manifestations of these ideals resulting from human activity.
Corporations can be humane, but only individuals can be human. Corporations can’t vote in elections, only individuals can.
These are simple facts I am sure you will find difficult to dispute. Thus, it is misguided to suggest that the constitution was originally drafted to grant abstract legal entities the same rights as you and me.
